Why it works

WHAT PERFORMING ARTS
DOES FOR YOUR PUPILS.

Every session is designed to do more than teach dance. The results show up in classrooms, corridors and beyond.

01

Confidence & self-belief

Children who struggle to participate in class find their voice on the studio floor. Over a term, the change is visible to every teacher who knows them.

02

Behaviour & engagement

Structure, movement and creative challenge give pupils a positive outlet. Schools consistently report calmer classrooms and better focus after sessions.

03

Communication & teamwork

Performing together builds listening, leadership and the ability to work with others — skills that transfer directly into the rest of the school day.

04

Wellbeing & mental health

Movement and creative expression give young people safe, structured ways to process emotions, feel valued and build real resilience.

05

Inclusion for every learner

Sessions are designed so all pupils can take part — including those with SEND, SEMH needs or low confidence. Nobody sits on the sidelines.

06

Pride & community

Productions and showcases create shared moments that pupils, families and staff remember. They build belonging in a way very few other things can.

Success story

GIVING EVERY CHILD A VOICE.

Wyborne Primary School — SEN Performing Arts Project.

Wyborne Primary

Mr Sprinkles Ice Cream Parlour

A pupil-led SEN performing arts production — every idea, every character, every prop, theirs.

The Project

At Wyborne Primary, we worked alongside a group of SEN pupils to create an entire Ice Cream Parlour production from scratch. Rather than simply learning a script, the children shaped the storyline, developed the characters and designed every prop themselves — giving them real ownership of the project from start to finish.

For one pupil in particular, rehearsing their lines became the spark that finally made them want to practise reading aloud — real growth that came from feeling safe to contribute and proud of what they'd built together.

Outcomes

  • Genuine pupil voice — children shaped the storyline, characters and props themselves.
  • Designed and made original props as part of the creative process.
  • Increased confidence in public speaking and performing, including previously reluctant pupils.
  • Improved reading confidence through rehearsing and performing lines.
  • Stronger teamwork and communication built through collaborative rehearsal.
  • Strengthened self-belief by celebrating every child's individual contribution.
  • A polished, memorable performance the whole school could be proud of.

Seen. Heard. Celebrated. A place to be yourself. Shine your way.
